African Industries Group is committed to building the future of youths-Director

The African Industries Group (AIG) is committed to building the future of youths in its plants and host communities, the Director Dr John Akanya has said.

Akanya in a statement said the group embarked on a week-long celebration on the occasion of the “International Youth Day” by conducting skills empowerment programmes to upgrade the skill- set of it’s employees and youths in its host communities across its plants in the country.

At the African Natural Resources and Mines Limited (ANRML), a company of AIG which is a fully integrated iron ore mining and processing plant in Gujeni village, Kagarko LGA of Kaduna state, various employee engagement activities to bring out their hidden talent and group presentations on youth related topics were held. 

The Director, AIG Dr. John Akanya,said the employees participated with enthusiasm and pledged their commitment towards “Building the Future Together“ and creating a sustainable world. 

He said: “The energy and talent of the youth in Nigeria is unmatched. We hope our efforts will make them more responsible and committed to leading our nation to greater heights.”

He further reiterated  that the African Industries Group is committed to being socially responsible, economically inclusive, and environmentally sustainable, in turn making Nigeria a better place to live. ” The company aims to bring ‘Hope’, improve ‘Human Dignity’ and create ‘Social Impact’ within Nigeria. It will continue to educate the youth of Nigeria, equip them to become model citizens and contribute to the growth of Nigeria”.Akanya said.

Over the decades, the group has employed thousands of Nigerian youth across various plants in Nigeria, imparting them with varied skills, empowering and making them competent to contribute towards the growth of Nigeria.

African Industries Group (AIG) started its operations in Nigeria in 1971. It has a workforce of more than 10000+ employees. The Group had always believed that the future of any country is built on the strong foundation of skilled youth. 

The plant has generated job opportunities to thousands of Nigerians and also has brought several socio-economic development initiatives for the host communities. 

Similarly,AIG promotes socio-economic and sustainable development within communities in Nigeria as the act of giving back to society is embedded in its overall business ethos. Over the last 5 decades, it has made an impact across many Nigerian communities like Gujeni Community , Odagbo Community, Diko Community, Alasial Ikorodu Community, Adeite Community, Agodo Segun Community, Gurara Local Community to name a few.

It has completed various initiatives towards the all-round development of the communities, centered around 3 key thrust areas of “Community Development”, “Women Empowerment” and “Health and Hygiene”. It has undertaken road rehabilitation, transformer installation, borehole construction, school renovation, blood donation and so on.
