AEA’s Entrepreneurship competition:Three schools emerge winners,gets over N2 million

Students of Government Secondary School Bwari have come first at the Abuja Enterprise Agencys (AEA) Young Entrepreneurs’ Club (AYEC) competition carting away one million naira seed capital.


While students of Government Secondary School,Kubwa came second getting seven hundred and fifty thousand naira and Government Secondary School Zone 3,Abuja, who came third got Five hundred thousand naira.


In his welcome address, the Acting MD/CEO of the Abuja Enterprise Agency Mallam Shehu Abdulkadir said the Abuja Young Entrepreneurship Club (AYEC) was launched in 2007 and targeted at students to build their entrepreneurial skills through entrepreneurship training, annual competitions, exchange programmes and study tours.  

” The 4th edition which is tagged “Social Enterprise in my School”  in partnership with the FCT Secondary Education Board (FCT SEB) and the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) had in participation 30 Secondary Schools across the six (6) Area Councils in the FCT. During the programme, the students were taught on Social Entrepreneurship by their respective Club coordinators and guided on how to develop a Social Enterprise Project in areas such as Sanitation and Waste Management, Technology, Security, Education etc.

“After appraisals, the schools with the most innovative and viable social enterprises are unveiled and awarded with seed capital to implement their proposed social enterprises in their various schools.”Abdulkadir said.

The Permanent Secretary,FCTA Mr Olusade Adesola congratulated the emerging winners of the 4th Edition of the AEA Young Entrepreneurs’ Club competition for their accomplishment.

“It is obvious that you have distinguished yourselves and proven that there are still many youngsters out there with viable, innovative, creative and sustainable ideas which can be brought into limelight through a platform like the AEA Young Entrepreneurs’ Club (AYEC). I sincerely hope that the seed capital provided to you will be judiciously utilized in the implementation of your respective business ideas.”
