President Tinubu sacks 5 ministers,appoints Bianca Ojukwu,6 others as ministers and redeploys 10 othersĀ

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reshuffled his cabinet.While five ministers were sacked, ten were redeployed to other new Ministries and seven Ministers were appointed.

Those that were relieved of their positions are Minister of Women Affairs,Barr. Uju-Ken Ohanenye,Minister of Tourism,Lola Ade-John,Minister of Education,Prof Tahir Mamman,Minister of State, Housing and UrbanĀ Development Muhammad Gwarzo, Minister of Youth Development,Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim.

The list of Ministers reassigned to new portfolios are asĀ follows.Hon Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu Minister of State Education to Minister of StateĀ Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction,Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa, Minister State Health to Minister of Education, Barr. Bello Muhammad Goronyo Minister of State, Water Resources and Sanitation to Minister of State Works,Hon. AbubakarĀ Eshiokpekha Momoh Minister of Niger Delta Development to Minister of Regional Development.

Others are Uba Maigari Ahmadu Minister of State Steel Development to Minister of State Regional Development,Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite,Minister of Industry, TradeĀ and Investment to Minister of StateĀ Finance,Sen. John Owan Enoh Minister of Sports Development to Minister of State Trade and Investment [Industry].

Others are Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim Minister of State Police Affairs to Minister of Women Affairs, Ayodele Olawande Minister of State for YouthĀ Development to Minister for YouthĀ Development,Dr. Salako IziaqĀ Adekunle Adeboye,Minister of State,Ā Environment to Minister of State,Ā Health.

The new ministers designate are as follows:Dr Nentawe Yilwatda Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and PovertyĀ Reduction,Muhammadu MaigariĀ Dingyadi,Minister of Labour &Ā Employment,Bianca OdinakaĀ Odumegu-Ojukwu Minister of State Foreign Affairs,Dr Jumoke Oduwole Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Idi Mukhtar Maiha,Minister of Livestock Development, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development,Suwaiba Said Ahmad Minister of State Education.

The President also approved the immediate implementation of eight actions to reinvigorate theĀ Administrationā€™s capacity for optimal efficiency pursuant of hisĀ commitment to deliver on his promises to Nigerians.The eight actions approved include:

-The renaming of the Ministry of Nigeria Delta Development to Ministry of Regional Development to oversee the activities of all the RegionalĀ Development Commissions. TheĀ Regional DevelopmentĀ Commissions to be under the supervision of the new Ministry are; theĀ Niger Delta Development Commission, the South East DevelopmentĀ Commission, the North East Development and the North WestĀ Development Commission.

-The immediate winding up of the Ministry of Sports Development andĀ the transfer of its functions to the National Sports Commission.

-The merger of the Federal Ministry of Tourism and the FederalĀ Ministry of Arts and Culture to become Federal Ministry of Art,Ā Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy;

-The appointment of Shehu Dikko as Chairman of the National SportsĀ Commission;

-The appointment of Sunday Akin Dare as Special Adviser to theĀ president on Public Communication and Orientation working from theĀ Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

President Tinubu thanked the outgoing members of the Federal ExecutiveĀ Council for their service to the nation while wishing them the best in theirĀ future endeavours.

He then charged the newly appointed ministers as well as their reassignedĀ colleagues to see their appointment as a call to serve the nation. He addedĀ that all appointees must understand the administrationā€™s eagerness andĀ determination to set Nigeria on the path to irreversible growth and investĀ the best of their abilities into the actualisation of the government priorities.
