The World Fire Congress concluded with a landmark closing ceremony, as representatives of participating nations formally signed the World Fire Congress (WFC) Founding Principles.
The signing marked a shared commitment to strengthening international cooperation, advancing fire safety, and building more resilient communities through collective action.
The Federal Fire Service joins fellow member nations in reaffirming its commitment to the principles and objectives of the WFC.
Discussions at the World Fire Congress in London shifted towards emerging approaches to strengthening community resilience, with global fire and emergency management leaders exchanging ideas on the changing demands of disaster management.
A statement by National PRO / Head, Corporate Services Federal Fire Service,
National Headquarters,DCF Paul Abraham disclosed that conversations yesterday focused on the full emergency management cycle, from planning and prevention to preparedness, response and recovery; with emphasis on how countries can strengthen systems and adapt to emerging risks.
The discussions also provided an opportunity for participants to share experiences and explore areas for stronger collaboration at the global level.
Part of the statement of Founding Principles and Objectives reads thus:
“In a spirit of friendship, and for the common benefits of each community represented within the WFC, its delegates intend to share their collected knowledge with other World Fire Congress partner communities. WFC delegates plan to meet to build relationships that will allow a more open, transparent, and effective sharing of information through communities of practice; to enable experts within our ranks to gather regularly to share strategies; to bring forward possible solutions to common challenges; to identify emerging problem areas and set priorities; and to monitor the progress of cooperative efforts and programmes to reduce fire losses.”
