Tinubu appoints new Service Chiefs, IGP, Comptroller of Customs and others

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,  has approved the immediate retirement of all Service Chiefs and the Inspector-General of  Police, Advisers as well as their replacements with immediate effect. 

According to a statement by the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey, a former Theatre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Christopher Musa, replaces General Lucky Irabor as the Chief of Defence Staff.

Also, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja is now the Chief of Army Staff. He replaces Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya.

Air Vice Marshal H.B Abubakar was appointed as the Chief of Air Staff in place of Air Marshal Oludayo Amao while Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla will take over from Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo as the Chief of Naval Staff.

Also, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has been appointed as the acting Inspector General of Police. He replaces former IGP Usman Alkali Baba while Major General EPA Undiandeye is the acting Chief of Defence Intelligence.

President Tinubu also elevated Nuhu Ribadu who was appointed last week as the Security Adviser to the President, to the National Security Adviser.He replaced Major General Babagana Monguno (retd.) who was appointed in July 2015 by former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Acting Customs CG

Again,the Nigeria Custom Service has a new Comptroller General. He is Adeniyi Adewale who replaced former CG Hameed Ali.

Mr President also approved the following appointments: Col. Adebisi Onasanya  Brigade of Guards Commander, Lt. Col. Moshood Abiodun Yusuf  7 Guards Battalion, Asokoro, Abuja and  Lt. Col. Auwalu Baba Inuwa 177, Guards Battalion, Keffi, Nasarawa State.Others are Lt. Col. Mohammed J. Abdulkarim 102 Guards Battalion, Suleja, Niger and  Lt. Col. Olumide A. Akingbesote  176 Guards Battalion, Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Similarly, the President approved the appointments of other Military Officers in the Presidential Villa as follows Maj.  Isa Farouk Audu 

(N/14695) Commanding Officer State House Artillery , Capt. Kazeem Olalekan Sunmonu (N/16183) Second-in-Command, State House Artillery and Maj. Kamaru Koyejo Hamzat (N/14656) Commanding Officer, State House Military Intelligence.Others are  Maj. TS Adeola (N/12860) Commanding Officer, State House Armament and  Lt. A. Aminu (N/18578) Second-in- Command, State House Armament

Mr. President has also approved the appointments of two (2) additional Special Advisers, and two (2) Senior Assistants. They are 

 Hadiza Bala Usman Special Adviser, Policy Coordination and Hannatu  Musa Musawa Special Adviser, Culture and Entertainment Economy. Others are Sen. Abdullahi Abubakar Gumel Senior Special Assistant , National Assembly Matters  (Senate) and  Hon. (Barr) Olarewaju Kunle Ibrahim  Senior Special Assistant, National Assembly Matters  (House of Representatives)

The statement noted that the appointed Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police and the Comptroller General of Customs are to act in their positions, pending their confirmation in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 

Similarly, the President has approved the immediate dissolution of the Governing Boards of all Federal Government Parastatals, Agencies, Institutions, and Government-Owned Companies in the exercise of its Constitutional Powers and in the Public interest.

In view of this development and until such a time new boards are constituted, the Chief Executive Officers of the Parastatals, Agencies, Institutions, and Government-Owned Companies are directed to refer matters requiring the attention of their Boards to the President, through the Permanent Secretaries of their respective supervisory Ministries and Offices.
