SOOF provides foodstuffs, clothing to over 200 widows and 100
orphans in FCT

The Sunday and Omoikhere Oriaran Foundation (SOOF) has provided foodstuffs, clothing and school kits to over 200 widows and 100 orphans in FCT.

At an outreach which was organised by the Sunday and Omoikhere Oriaran Foundation (SOOF) in Abuja on Sunday, the Converner, Chief (Dr) Mrs Rose Oriaran- Anthony said the aim of the outreach was to help provide the basic needs of the widows and orphans during Christmas.

” We decided to do this now because its a season of giving.Christmas is all about sharing love.We decided to collaborate with WaterLight Save Initiative to bring these widows and orphans together and give them gifts at Christmas and for the orphans ,back to school items.” She said.

“For the widows, we have gone to them in various Interior communities in the FCT, but this time we decided to bring them to Abuja Childrens Park and Zoo so they will relate with us,eat,party and dance.You can see how happy and cheerful they are.” She said.

Director,SOOF Barr.Mrs Patricia Samuel said 200 widows from various areas of the FCT and over 100 orphans from five orphanage homes were present and received various gifts.

The National President of Nigerian Association of Women Entrepreneurs (NAWE) and one of the Directors SOOF, Barrister Vera Ndanusa, said people who are blessed in the society should share with the less privildged in their communities.

” I am of the opinion that government cannot do it alone.Some of us who are blessed should give from the little we have.If we share from what we have,there will be no hunger.And if we are able to reduce hunger,there will be no insecurity.

“This is not the first time SOOF is giving out to widows and orphans especially during yulutide season.We do this also during Sallah celebrations.” Ndanusa said .

Director, WaterLight Save Initiative Dr Prince Ero Ibhafidan said the more people collaborate ,the more vulnurable people and communities will be reached and poverty alliviated.

One of the widows,Afiniki James said SOOF has made a great impact on the lives of widows in the FCT.

” Today,i got rice ,oil, wrapper and other items.It is part of SOOF activities of feeding and clothing the widows.We thank them and pray that God will continue to keep them.” she said.

Similarly, another widow, Hajara Suleiman thanked SOOF.SOOF  is wiping our tears away and feeding us.May almighty Got bless them abduntanly.God will keep them and their families.” She said.
