SMEs urged to upgrade products to world standard

The Acting Managing Director of the Abuja Enterprise Agency (AEA) Mal Shehu Abdulkadir has urged MSMEs to upgrade the standard of their products and services to meet world best practices.

Abdulkadir disclosed this while speaking at the Business 360 programme organised by the Agency with the theme “Product Acceptability; Bridging the Gap for the Local and Global Marketplace” held in Abuja yesterday.

“Business 360° is aimed at creating a platform where government regulatory institutions and Business Development Service Providers (BDSPs) are invited to sensitise and enlighten entrepreneurs on approved business standards and best practices. 

“The 9th edition of the Business 360˚is geared towards positioning theSmall and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with local products to favourably compete globally through standardisation and proper business formalisation.” Abdulkadir said.

He urged SMEs to visit the MSMEs One-Stop-shop situated in the Agency to get their products and services registered.

The Director-General of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) Mallam Farouk, said Business 360 is geared towards positioning the SMEs locally to favourably compete globally through standardisation.

” As a standard body whose activities come to bear with International best practice, our doors are always open to all those in the manufacturing,import ,Export and provision of services to come forward on issues of Standard that may require clarification.”
