Genius Skills Empowerment Initiative holds medical outreach for over 100 women in FCT

To show love and kindness to the indigent in the society, Genius Skills Empowerment Initiative has organised a medical outreach for women in the FCT. 

At the outreach which held at the Genius Skills Empowerment Initiative Center in Kubwa on Friday, over a hundred women were tested free for HIV and given the first dose of Hepatitis vacination free.

The Executive Director Genius Skills Empowerment Initiative Mrs Shade Abioye, said the programme was part of it’s annual activities to reach out to women  and give them food and relief materials for Christmas.

“It’s our regular style to check on our women.We brought them here today to help them check their vitals,test for HIV and for them to take their first dose of Hepatitis B vacination. We have paid for them to come for the second and third doses of the Hepatitis vacination. We have also given them clothings, foodstuffs and other items to help them celebrate the Christmas and New year. 

” We have reached out to about a hundred women from across the FCT. We have women from Dei, Dei, Saburi, Mopol Barracks  and Kubwa here today. We have also enlightened the women on the need to sharpen their skills.At Genius Skills Empowerment Initiative we are focused on empowering people with skills.”Abioye said.

The PRO of the Initiative Mrs Grace Tony Achi, said there.was need for the women to undergo the test because they need to be healthy to be able to carry out their businesses.

“This empowerment programme today is not just to enlighten them about their health but we taught them that there is need for every woman to have a skill.At Genius Skills Empowerment Initiative, we teach women various skills such as Tailoring, Bead making, Sheo making, Soap making and more. We have encouraged these women to come and learn these skills here as well. ” Achi said.


The Executive Secretary of the Genius Skills Empowerment Initiative Ms Toju Jeremy, encouraged the women to be mindful of what is happening in their bodies as they go about their businesses adding that health is wealth.


One of the beneficiaries, Adejoh Victoria said she achieved so much from the outreach.”I have done the HIV test , received first dose of Hepatitis Vacination and they checked my Blood Pressure. I have also received so many gifts and encouragement on how to help my business grow. May God bless Genius Skills Empowerment Initiative for all that they have done and given to us today.” She said

.
Another beneficiary, Happiness James thanked the Initiative for giving them the opportunity to do the various test and for paying for all the doses of the Hepatitis vacination. “I am glad for all they have given us too. God bless them”She said.
