The Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Samuel Adeyemi Olumode has tasked the newly promoted officers to see their promotion as a call to service and greater responsibility.
Olumode stated this during a ceremony held in Abuja on Wednesday to decorate the senior officers and other promoted officers of the Federal Fire Service.
He said:”Today is not just a ceremonial gathering; it is a moment of affirmation, recognition and reflection. We are here to formally decorate senior officers who have earned their promotions through a rigorous, transparent, and highly competitive process conducted by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board in collaboration with army Resource Centre. In total, Two Thousand Six Hundred and Twenty (2,620) officers across ranks were promoted, and today’s decoration symbolises the reward of discipline, sacrifice, and consistent professional excellence.”
Olumode noted that promotion in the Federal Fire Service is neither automatic nor accidental but an outcome of years of commitment, repeated assessments, performance reviews, and institutional scrutiny.
He added:”To every officer being decorated today, your new rank is proof that the Service has found you worthy of greater trust and higher responsibility.
At this point, I wish to express my profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed and the Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Board, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his purposeful leadership, strategic guidance, and hands-on oversight.I equally acknowledge the Board Secretary and members of the CDCFIB for their diligence, professionalism, and commitment to merit-based advancement.”
Olumode said since he assumed duty, his focus has been clear and simple: to reposition the Federal Fire Service for efficiency, sustained operational readiness, and effective public safety delivery, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration.
He urged the newly promoted officers to see their promotion as call to duty and come up with innovative ideas that will take the service to greater heights.
The Secretary for the Civil Defence Correctional,Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) Major General Abdulmalik Jibrin (Rtd) urged the officers to see their elevation has a call to hard work.
” It’s expected that anyone whom trust is given in terms of elevation, should bring new ideas to bear so you will help move the Fire Service forward. Think outside the box and bring new ideas to bear in areas of assignment.’Jibrin said.
Similarly,the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) ,Prof Ahmed Audi urged the officers to see their promotion as a reward for hardwork urging them to become role model for other officers to emulate.
The Controller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service Mr Sylvester Nwakuche,tasked the officers to give their best to the service saying ” since much has been given to you,we expect so much from you too.”
In his vote of thanks on behalf of all the newly promoted officers,Controller S.A Musa thanked the Controller-General of the Fire Service,Samuel Adeyemi Olumode for his visionary leadership, mentorship and dedication to building a modern professional service delivery institution.
He said: “To my newly designated Controllers and all other promoted officers,the congratulations is warm to all of us.Its a call to honour and higher responsibility and that our passion will be further strengthened and the service better for it.This will inspire great performance in all areas of our endeavours.And we promise the CG of our unwavering commitment to duty based on this moral boasting promotion we have received.”
A break down of the promoted officers are, Controller of Fire: 5, Assistant Controller of Fire: 8, Chief Superintendent: 103,DSF-SF: 86,ASF I-DSF: 1, 912, ASF II- ASF I:152,AIF- ASF II: 440 and the total 2,620.
