Must read

The FCT administration has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the Home Grown School Feeding Programme.

The Manager of the FCT Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, Alhaji Kudu Dangana stated this at an interface with the cooks and aggregators at the weekend.

Kudu assured vendors of the scheme that the programme will be sustained in the territory despite the rising cost of foodstuff.

Kudu was reacting to grumblings by cooks about the rising cost of food items and other technical challenges they faced in accessing their payment. He urged them to use the right channels of communication to present their grievances.

He said, “We are determined to sustain the school feeding programme because of its impact on school enrolment. Already, it has increased enrolment significantly, and despite the rising cost of foodstuff, we will sustain it.

“And by the grace of God, we want our cooks to be assured that everything will be okay because together with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and other stakeholders, all the concerns will be addressed,’’ he said.

The School Feeding programme seeks to provide one free nutritional meal for children in primaries one to three in public primary schools in Nigeria using food produced within the locality.,

The Programme was flagged-off in the FCT in February 2020  targeting about 120,300 pupils drawn from 626 public primary schools across the six Area Councils of the FCT.
