BRATIM holds Human Capital Strategy Forum, calls for inclusivity and human capital development

The Acting Dean BRATIM Business School, Abuja Tejan Ibrahim, has said organisations in the private sector as well as public service must encourage inclusivity and human resource capacity building for their staff.

Ibrahim was speaking on Wednesday in Abuja at the Human Capital Strategy Forum organised by Bratim Business School with the theme; “inclusive workplace: working motivation and performance.”

” What we are trying to do is to make an impact in the HR space to know the modern thing in the workplace in terms of Inclusivity. We have people with special needs who are left out. We are looking at how we can impact society by making them know the practices that impact motivation in the office and eventually in the workplace. ” Ibrahim said.

He further said HR managers need to understand that the performance of their organisation depends on them adding that the training and retraining of their staff at all levels must be prioritised.

While speaking on the topic Agile HR practices in Driving Performance in Public Service, Director-General, Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi, said the agency has commenced a master plan to digitilize all of its processes and implement strategies to encourage inclusivity in the public service.

“Agility emphasize contineous  process improvement to maximize customer value while minimising cost.Agility is modern way of using technology to maximize time and goals.” he said.

He stated that Agility in an organization will bring about staff engagement, collaboration,transparency and accountability, customer satisfaction, delivery speed and ability to manage changing priorities.

The President of Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Olusegun Mojeed, said organisations must be intentional about adopting the tenets of inclusivity as a working policy adding that this initiative will give room for ideas, flexibility, and ease at work without having to worry about competence or service delivery. 

Chief investment officer of SHELL Ehis Uzenabor revealed that formal education is not enough for individuals to deliver effectively at work.

“Formal education is just the baseline hence it will be a gamble for organisation not to invest in human capital.” 

He added that investment in knowledge pays the best interest adding that what every individual needs to succeed is mandatory self development and training.

 He urged organisations in the public and private sectors to be intentional about investing in human capital as well as encouraging external training for effective service delivery. 

The Chairman of BRATIM Seyi Katola, said the Human Capital Strategy Forum (HCSF 23)  organised by Bratim Business School has helped to stir up discussions on inclusive workplace: working motivation and performance in the HR space.

He thanked both Speakers and participants for their inputs on making the forum a success.
