The newly elected Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Abuja and District Society Mr Adeyemi Adesanya, FCA a.k.a ILabe has.been sworn-in as the 13th Chairman of the council.
Adesanya was sworn-in by the 59th President of ICAN Dr Innocent Iweka Okwuosa FCA,at the investiture ceremony which held in Abuja on Friday,
The Investiture which coincided with Adesanyas’ 52nd birthday was a double celebration for the new 13th Chairman of the District Society and the new Executive.
Adesanya in his acceptance speech said it is a rare honour and priviledge to have been elected by his peers to provide leadership to ICAN Abuja for the next 12 months.
” This is an honour which I will eternally cherish.I warmly commend my colleagues in the district for the huge trust.It is with a great delight,sense of responsibility and determination to selflessly serve that I graciously accept my election and investiture as the 13th Chairman of Abuja ICAN.” Adesanya said.
The new chairman stated his goals for the district. ” I have two things I want to do. One is that I want to unite our members and the second is, I want to empower them through capacity building. Through training and conferences we will build the capacity of our members. Soon, we are going to have a retreat with the new executives and the body of past chairman to help us chart the way forward. “
Adesanya promised to provide a purposeful leadership for the ICAN Abuja and District Society which will help bring solutions to challenges facing it’s members and the accounting profession.
The 59th President of ICAN Dr Innocent Iweka Okwuosa said ICAN is a brand which must be sustained at the district level.
He said: ” The ICAN Abuja and District Society was established in 1991 and has grown and is one of the largest in the country..The ICAN Districts were created to help council spread the activities of the institute at the grassroot level. So, we have 70 districts and have 5 foreign districts. I urge the newly sworn-in executives to sustain the tempo of work the previous Excos ha e done in the district.”
The Special Guest of Honour and the Accoutant General of the Federation, Dr Mrs Oluwatoyin Madein urged the new executive members to uphold the standard of the Accountancy profession to ensure that the institute us held in high esteem.
The Chairman of the Occasion,Engr. Dr. Muhammad Yakubu tasked the new Executive led by Mr Adeyemi Adesanya a.k.a ILabe to uphold the tenets of the accounting profession and take it greater heights.
The Chairman of the Investiture Committee Dr Adeadebayo Abdulkadir in his welcome speech thanked all the members of the district for their support in making the Investiture ceremony of the 13th ICAN Abuja Chairman Mr Adeyemi Adesanya FCA a success.
