WOLMEI empowers,donate gifts to Widows at Christmas

As part of it’s activities to give to the less privileged, the Woman of Like Minds Empowerment Initiative (WOLMEI) has given out foodstuffs, clothes,cash and other items to widows in Abuja.

The Founder and President of the Initiative Dr. Mrs Lauretta Achudume who presented the gifts on behalf of the the foundation in Abuja on Wednesday said the gesture was to bring succour to the women and put smile on their faces during the Christmas season.

She said: “Every quarter,we organise various outreaches.This is one of End of Year programmes to reach out to some widows in the FCT. We have given foodstuffs,cash and clothes to these women to celebrate Christmas.This is to support them and tell that WOLMEI cares.

“Beyond this,we have assisted them in the area of educating their children.We have also built the entrepreneurial skills of some of them to help them earn a living.Some of them have learnt how to make Ankara bags and shoes,soap making and other skills.WOLMEI has also built the leadership skills of some them and have been at the forefront of advocacy for women and children.WOLMEI was established in 2013.” Achudume said.

In her response,the Leader of the Fountain of Hope Widows Bwari,Mrs Sandra Agbure, said WOLMEI has been of tremendous help to her and the other widows in the association. 

” I want to appreciate WOLMEI on behalf of all the widows here today.They have given us foodstuffs, clothings, cash to help celebrate with our children this Christmas season.Also,whenever I call them that any of the widows have a challenge, they respond without hesitation.We appreciate them greatly.

“Beyond what they have given to us today,the association has impacted my life greatly.I was one of the women they empowered financially during the economic empowerment programme they had the last time.I invested the money in the business I was doing.Now, I can make Ankara bags and shoes and also I am into the business of soap making.I also teach other women in this group the skills I have learnt.I want to thank WOLMOI for all these.” Sandra said.

While appreciating the Foundation for its support and assistance to them over the years, Sandra presented a plaque to the President and Founder of Women of Like Minds Empowerment Initiative, Mrs Lauretta Achudume.

Another widow from the Marvellous Friends widows group in Mararaba, Faith David said WOLMEI has provided some of the widows with house rents and scholarship for their children to go to school.

“I want to thank WOLMEI for all they do.Everyone in this association has a heart of gold. We thank them for their unconditional love for us. We are proud of Women of Like Minds.They have taught us to have hope and see that we are winners.They have been a source of strength to us.We thank them for all the gift they have given us to celebrate this Christmas.We pray that God will continue to bless them, provide and keep everyone of them.”
