Nollywood actor, Mofe-Damijo, celebrates 61st birthday

Nollywood veteran actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo, turned 61 on Wednesday,6th July.

The actor shared photos of himself on Instagram at midnight. In the caption, he expressed gratitude to family, friends, business partners, and to ā€œthe hands in the creative industry that have given me so much joy and opportunities to shoot my shot!ā€.

ā€œThis is 61 and counting! Super grateful and thankful for Godā€™s grace upon my life. Birthdays are a chance to look back and forward and all I see is Godā€™s grace upon the life of this shy Warri boy that said yes to life,ā€ the rest of his message read.

In an acting career spanning more than forty decades, Mofe-Damijo has picked up a number of honours and starred in many movies. In 2005, he won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2016.

Some films he featured in recently include ā€œKing of Boys: The Return of the Kingā€, ā€œFine Wineā€, and ā€œLove Is Warā€.

He was also a former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State from 2009 to 2015.

Mofe-Damijo was married to journalist/publisher and talk show host May Ellen ā€˜MEEā€™ Ezekiel. After her death in 1996, he remarried TV personality, Jumobi Adegbesan, who later left TV presenting for the corporate world.

Mofe-Damijo has five children: two with his current wife and three from his previous marriage.
