The Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office (NMCO) says it is currently having a system downtime due to a technical glitch being experienced by the Cloud Service Provider hosting its data.

In a statement signed by the NMCO management on Tuesday, the agency however assured stakeholders in the mining industry that the glitche will be rectified soon.

The  statement reads in part: “The Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office (NMCO) wishes to inform the mining sector stakeholders and the general public that the Agency is currently having a system downtime.

This is due to a technical glitch being experienced by the Cloud Service Provider hosting our data.”

As you are aware, NMCO has upgraded its system to the electronic Mining Cadastre Plus (eMC+) to enhance seamless processing of mineral title applications in a transparent manner, in line with international best practices.”

The Agency’s Cloud Service Provider has informed the Office that their technical team is working assiduously to rectify the glitch as soon as possible.”

MCO wishes to assure our stakeholders and the general public that the Agency’s data is secured. We appeal for understanding while the technical glitch is being resolved.”

It will be recalled that the Minister of Solid Mineral Development announced the review of Mining rates few days ago. Under the new regime, investors applying for a Mining Lease license will pay N3 million, while Small Scale Mining Lease (SSML) applicants will pay N300,000 for the first two cadastral units. The rates review also affects services rendered by the Mining Cadastral Office (MCO) and the Nigeria Geological Survey Agency (NGSA).
