The anchor of “Her Voice”, a virtual Meet up event for women Khabo Masanabo , has advocated that every woman should be given access to education accross the world .
Khabo Masanabo , a Business Development Analyst said if given an opportunity to push for one policy that will be beneficial to women all over the world,it would be that every woman should be educated .
Khabo spoke at the event which held on Saturday 8 March to mark this years International Women’s Day (IWD) with the theme “Accelerate Action .”
She said : ” If I am to push for one policy to help women all over the world,it will be for every woman to have quality education.Once a woman is educated,it will help her to make the right decision about her sexual health , her family and every aspect of her life. I will advocate for affordable education in the early stages for girls to able to go to school . “
Khabo urged women to Accelerate Action even in their daily lives to bring about a change in their world .
Corroborating what Khabo said,Irenitemi Somuyiwa-Mbeha , a Speaker at ‘Her Voice’ noted that injustice thrives were there is lack of education , hence women must be educated and also learn about the world around them .
Irenitemi Somuyiwa-Mbeha , a multi-media Journalist at BBC Africa said women will be able to bring about change when they speak about their challenges .
She said : ” We need to keep talking about what we go through.It puts a spotlight on the issue . Talk to people that can help bring about a change.People that can amplify your voice and bring about a change .”Â
Irenitemi says as a journalist , she has helped to highlight issues about women through various stories .
Irenitemi says to Accelerate Action as highlighted in this year’s International Womens Day , there should be more women taking leadership roles and women fully represented at foras were decisions are being made concerning them .
Another Speaker , Helena Taylor who works in the Technology space urged women to provide support for other women who face Gender Based Violence (GBV) and lift them up.
” I will ask women to build each other up and find a community in other women because they understand what they are going through . ” Taylor said.
To Accelerate Action and bring about Change , a Business Analyst and a participant at the event,Helen Asimegbe highlighted some actions that need to be taken:
– Enforce Policy Reforms relating to women Have a legal framework
– Have a legal framework
– Promote Economic Empowerment amongst women
– Advocate for education and skills acquisition for women
– Providing support for women who faced Gender Based Violence
– Use technology to proffer solutions to grow businesses
Founder of The Creatives Nigeria and the convener of “Her Voice” Meet-up , Makoji Kelvin Ibrahim thanked the host and Speakers for the synergy they demonstrated while having the conversation .
He said “Her Voice” is a safe place for women to share their experiences and grow .
Makoji said : “Each of these Meet up is designed to create a comfortable , inclusive space where women can feel supported , valued and empowered . We will ensure it is a space for open dialogue and personal growth . Our goal is to raise awareness and spark meaningful conversations about issues women face globally.And our target are women in various creative and tech industries . “
