ICAN Abuja District Chairman sworn-in,rolls out 5 point agenda

The 14th Chairman of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Abuja and District Society, Dr AdeAdebayo Shuaib, has rolled out a five-point agenda for his tenure of 2024/25.

Shuaib stated this while delivering his acceptance speech during his Investiture ceremony which held on Wednesday at the NAF Centre Abuja.

“One of my agenda is to enhance our members capacity by exposing them to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics, advanced Excel training and Financial modelling to bring them upto speed and to current realities.”

“Also,ICAN Abuja does not have an office of its own. We will do all we can within this executive year to lay foundation of a beffiting secretariat at the Abuja Technology Village. Construction of ICAN Abuja District secretariat is our agenda. As we assume office,it’s a project we must deliver.” 

“Again, our agenda is employment facilitation. Addressing the employment need or our members is a priority for us. We shall try to secure employment opportunity  for 14 members both in public and private sector.” Shuaib said.

The ICAN Abuja Chairman promised to uphold the highest standard of the accounting profession and foster growth and strengthen the community.

He stated that the ICAN Abuja and District Society has one thousand registered members presently but part of the new executives goal is to have about 1,500 members at the end of their tenure. 

The 60th President of ICAN, Chief Davidson Stephen Alaribe said the institute recognises the pacesetting role of the Abuja District. 

Alaribe said: “Todays Investiture marks a significant milestone in the life of the district as we celebrate leadership,excellence and unwavering progress in advancing accounting profession in the FCT.”

He urged the new executives to work in partnership with the chairman to achieve their goals and objectives.

The Chairman of the Occasion and Lead Consultant, Periscope Consulting Ltd,Mr Bayo Adams said accounting is a robust profession hence accountants should think global and not stay local.”Just like medicine is same everywhere, so you should have with the International Accounting Standards.” Adams said.

The Royal Father of the Day,the Obelu of Esure,Ijebu Mushin,HRH Oba Abdulsamad Olamilakan Kasali prayed for the success of the chairman and the new executives during the 2024/25 tenure adding that Abuja District will attain landmark achievement in their tenure.
