To mark the World Blood Donation Day and to boost the shortfall at blood banks and promote voluntary donations, the African Natural Resources and Mines limited (ANRML) has organised an in-house voluntary blood donation drive at its headquarters at Gujeni plant,in Kargarko LGA in Kaduna state.
The initiative, held in partnership with the Women Forum of the organisation is aimed to support the national healthcare system by encouraging safe, regular blood donations.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the company……………….in a statement, the drive reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and public health. He said the initiative aligns with the company’s values and its mission to contribute meaningfully to the communities it serves.
He said:”To boost our blood donation drive at ANRML,a total of 111 of our employees donated blood. Each 450 ml amounts to upto 49,950 liters donated by our staff during the exercise on 21st and 22nd June 2025″
“The theme for this year’s WBDD is ‘Give blood, Give hope: together we save lives’.This theme emphasises the life-changing impact of blood donations and encourages both new and regular donors to contribute to stable blood supply. It also highlights the importance of community and solidarity in saving lives through blood donation.That is what we have done.”
He noted that the exercise represents a modest but impactful effort to strengthen local blood bank reserves and raise awareness about the lifesaving benefits of voluntary donation. He reaffirmed the ANRMl intention to continue identifying areas where it can support long-term social change and health equity.
Every year countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day (WBDD). The event serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood.
