Must read

Tobi Amusan, the world record holder in the 200m, will make her 2023 season debut today at the Tiger Track Classic, organized by the University of Auburn.

Amusan sat out the indoor season, having not competed since the beginning of the year and is now set to participate this weekend now that the indoor season is over.

Her outdoor Personal Best (PB) in the 200m is 22.60 seconds, and she is the fastest among the college competitors in her heat. Arianna Sharpe (23.50s), Ashantae Harvey (23.52s), Chante Clinkscale (23.63s), and Naveyh Frost (24.11s) of the University of Auburn make up the start list in her heat.

Amusan will be hoping to put up a good performance through lowering her PB, as she prepares for the rest of the season in her trademark event, the 100m Hurdles.

The spotlight will be on the World champion in all meets she’s present at this year as she prepares to retain her world title in Budapest.

Amusan stunned the whole world when she ran a blazing WR time of 12.12s to win her 100m Hurdles semi-final race in Oregon. She lowered this time to 12.06s in the final, becoming Nigeria’s first-ever world outdoor champion and world record holder in athletics.
