Voters Lament As BVAS Fails In FCT Council

Some voters have expressed frustration as the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines developed technical glitches in some polling units in Abaji area council of Abuja.

Our reporter, who went round some of the polling units such as Ayaura, Onas palace and Maisaje polling units saw voters stranded while lamenting over delay in commencement of voting in the affected polling units.

At about 11:47am, voters who were seen in a queue waiting to be accredited at Ona’s palace polling unit were yet to start voting due to the glitches.

A presiding officer, Ade Muyiwa, said since he and his colleagues arrived at the polling unit around 8am, the BVAS did not function.

A voter, Ibrahim Usman, said he came to join the queue since around 8:48 am but was yet to be accredited.

Also, at Ayaura polling unit, some voters who were seen seating under a tree, complained that they were yet to cast their votes because of technical hitches.

Mrs Zainab Yakubu, a middle aged woman, also said she had not been able to cast her vote.

An INEC official at Ayaura polling unit, Sayeed Umar, said a complaint had been forwarded to the INEC office in the area.
